Garage door remotes not working

Just replaced a craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener (about 8years old) with another 1/2hp unit. Replaced the motor/drive only as everything else was working fine.

New one button remote works fine but when I try to reprogram the 2, old, 3 button remotes nothing happens. The touch pad also is unable to be reprogrammed.

Please tell me I don't have to purchase new touch pad and remotes.

Any ideas welcome.
