Pioneer 1073 chainsaw

I have a pioneer 1073 chainsaw just put in new breaker points and set them . Started it it ran about two seconds then died and would start back. I have not started it for couple of years i was trying to find the points. I had drained the gas and oil out of it. It says 16: 1 on the fuel mix and that what I mixed it. I hate to take the carb apart its a bear you have to split the saw apart. Any short cuts to clean out the carb?

While this is my first visit to this forum, as a eight year visitor to Gardenweb, let me suggest that this question is posted in the wrong forum.

The correct forum would be Tool Shed. While you might get a helpful reply, your changes are much better in a forum devoted to a particular subject. Also it tends to irritate the regular forum users.
