Garage door opener crafstman

My gears were worn out on my Sears Crafstman chain garage door opener. I have replaced them and put it back together correctly. I think. After I put it back together, the first thing the opener does is try to go down. It will then go open about 6 inches. Try it again it does the same thing. Don't know what else to try. I don't know if there is a reset on this or not

Your motor is probably in the reverse position, try unhooking the chain let the motor run so the sprocket runs in a clockwise position and then hook up chain again.
