Craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener

My garage door jerks a couple of times whenever I attempt to open it with the remotes. Has anyone experienced this problem and can you suggest a solution? I have tighted all nuts and bolts and greased the rail.

It seems to close smoothly, so the jerking motion is only upon opening and only for the first two feet or so.

A garage door opener doesn't jerk under normal conditions. You most likely have a door or spring problem.

Thank you Don, I've just figured out how to get my questions/answers so I apologized for my slowness in responding. I'll check more carefully my door and springs.
