garage door opener

I recently purchased a clicker remote control because my previous one wasn't closing my garage door. I programmed the new one and and it would work fine until I got into my truck and turned on the engine, then it wouldn't open at all! I have to turn the engine off for it to work. Can anyone help me with this?

Something from your trucks ignition system is overpowering the radio signal from the remote. My first instinct is spark plug wires. Does your truck AM radio work when the engine is running? Very unusual problem.

Yes, the radio works, has a small humming noise. I noticed that if I drive out of the driveway then the remote will work, but not while sitting right in front of the garage.

Wow! This is a first. I've never heard of this before. It definitely sounds like something in your truck is creating an interference, ceasing communication between the remote and the garage door opener.

I did a quick search, and United States AM radio operates at a frequency MUCH, MUCH, MUCH higher (520-1610) than most garage door openers (210, 390, 315). So, your radio shouldn't be affecting the remote (but "should" and "does " are very different).

I did find this though from the FCC that may pertain to your issue:

The opener works now. Not sure what the problem was, I did mess with one of my speakers though.... Can't really figure out what the reason was, strange huh? but it works now, thanks for all your help guys!
