Problems setting up garage door remotes

Have a Sears Craftsman---When you program the hand-held remote, then the outside control unit won't work & vice-versa...I suspect the main door opener as the problem, since there are intermittant problems in setting up either one to get them to work....What say U???

Your hand held remote needs to be replaced and they both will work. The intermittent problem is anyones guess. If the unit is over 10 years old I would replace it.
