Pull starter rope on Ryobi weed eater

A friend tried to help me out while I was on grandfather duty and did something to my 4 cycle ryobi weed eater so that the pull cord is stuck and will not pull out. I cannot find a repair man close (live way out in country) and was going to take it apart myself. Any ideas????
Manual does not have any information on pull cords being frozen.

One loop of the pull-cord probably slipped off of the pulley, jamming the mechanism. Freeing it up should be easy and obvious when you remove the rewind assembly.
