In designing our new home, I drew a nice rounded top garage door that looks like two swinging doors. Is there a practical way to do this, or am I going to have to go with an overhead door that is faked to look like swinging doors? Are there automatic openers for swinging doors, would it meet code, am I crazy for wanting this? It will be a single wide door- 8' wide opening. There is plenty of room in front of the door.

If you google 'swinging garage door' there are a number of links, one of which is below. Good luck!

Thanks for the link. I notice they don't list prices- I'm sure they're pretty 'spendy'. I'll build my own doors- I may check into their openers, though.

After a lot of looking, there is precious little to be found in the way of automatic openers for swinging doors. I'll have to dig through the codes to see if it's even 'legal'. I can adapt gate openers, I think, if they'll let me.
