garage door not closing

I have a craftsman garage door opener. Model # 39.53648SRT2. Made 12/98. Has worked fine. Now it won't open or close unless done manually. Tried resetting codes on car opener. Nothing. Even the push button inside garage won't do it. The light on opener flashes 10 times. Only one sensor has a light working, not sure if both are supposed to be on or not. Bought the house a year ago, no manual. Is this fixable? If not, I wonder if it would be covered in my home warranty....

Your problem is with the door sensors. One of them has a light that stays on all the time. The other one has a light that only comes on when they are properly pointed at one another. Tweak them to see if the light will come on. If it doesn't you need new sensors.

OK. THANKS. ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN ORDER NEW SENSORS? OR DJ I HAVE TO BUY ENTIRE UNIT?

The safety sensor kit is part number 41A4373A and is available from Sears parts. It sells for $39.49.

I went and got new sensors, put them in and both green lights came on. It still doesn't open/close. The little green light on the back of the opener where all the wires go in blinks five times. any ideas?
