| Hello,
I need to replace my old wooden garage door with a steel insulated door. I also need a new opener to go with it. The sales rep is trying to sell me a Liftmaster with 3/4 HP. The door is only 7x8. With that much power I would expect it might open too fast and possibly do damage when it stops. My thought is that a 1/2 HP is more than adequate. LIFTMASTER is having a promotion on the 3/4 HP unit for almost the same price as a 1/2 HP. Anyone have any experience with a much more powerful opener than required? Thank you. Buickman |

| The horsepower has nothing to do with how fast the door raises or how it stops. If the sales rep matches the price of the 1/2 HP I would take it - otherwise no. |
