Garage Door Opener

I have an older model Craftsmen 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener. It was with the house when we purchased over two years ago. Last month it wouldn't work and I discovered the geer had worn and needed replacing. I replaced the geer and a month later the gear is worn again. Why would this happen so quickly? The other parts looked in good shape so I didn't replace them. Should I replace all the other parts or is there something else I need to do to fix this and prevent it from wearing our so quickly?

RE: Garage Door Opener

How heavy is the door? This is the most common cause of a drive gear stripping. You should replace all the parts that come with the gear and lubricate the gear with the supplied grease.
