Garage Door

Need help. Can't get into my garage. I have a clopay door and the handle only spins when I try to open. I think the cable is broken. I pulled back the weather strip and tried to use a coat hanger to undo the clasp but it does not work. I don't want to pay some one to come and do it. Can any body help. Wish I had entry from the house but I don't.

Please help getting frustrated

Garage door opener? Window? What other access do you have?

RE: Garage Door

If your clopay is like ours, it latches both sides at the rails. The handle in the center when you twist pulls the cables pulling back the latches both sides. If you can get help, you might be able to snake a rod or flat bar at the sides of the jambs where the latches are and try to pull the latch back. You on one side, your helper on the other. If you have trim (similar to a door stop), around the opening on the outside against the door, removing that might make access easier. Good luck!

By the way, the latches each side are at the same height as the handle.
