I had a Sears mdl139.53970SRT opener which kept eating the plastic gears. I just bought a Sears mdl139.53910D to replace it. I thought they were the same unit but I can't get the old remotes and the keypad to work with the new unit. Can someone help with the compatibility issue?

They aren't compatible. The frequency has changed.

By the By if your opener is eating plastic gears your have a door problem. Probably too heavy. Correct the door problem and you won't eat any more gears.

You have to buy a new remote. Darn thing cost $50, too. So, your 35 dollar keypad thing really costs 85 dollars (plus 50 for each additional remote). Sears! Thanks to helper 2007 for everything!
