I do not have one although I am familiar with them. Top of the line, quiet and reliable. The opener is available without the battery and unless I lived in an area where power failures were the norm I would not invest in the battery.

Yes, I agree. My kids, aged 13 and 16, enter our home when we're not there through the garage door. My wife insisted I buy this model because of the battery backup. Quite frankly, we've never had a situation I can remember where a battery backup would have helped. I personally think this will just become a maintenance issue over time. I hope I'm wrong.
