Programming extra buttons on GDO remotes

I have a Craftsman 1/2HP GDO model 139.5398511. It has the remotes with the blue buttons (Security+). The gates in our community just closed and I want to program the gate remote frequency to the 2nd or 3rd button on my GDO remote. I bet I could follow the directions in my manual if I could find it. Unfortunately, I can't find it.

If someone knows the procedure, I'll quit tearing my garage apart looking for the manual.

I checked Chamberlain's website and it appears that the extra button can't "learn" anything. I seems that they send a code of their own that a reciever (2nd GDO for example) can "learn", but the remote buttons aren't programable.
I'm thinking that the only way I'm going to have one remote in my car that controls my GDO and security gate is to buy an aftermarket HomeLink remote. I hope I am wrong, since they are more than my GDO system cost.
