This problem is most commonly caused when staples cut through the insulation of the wiring to the wall control. You can eliminate this possibility easily by removing the white wire with red tracer from terminal 1 at the opener. This will disable the wall control and the wiring to it. If the problem stops check the wiring and wall control.

i have the same 1/2 craftman it worked fine for several years but now it does not recognize my remote and does not respond to any new settings.
