Garage Door Opener wall console

My Craftsman Garage Door Opener (139.53976SRT) works fine except for the motion detecting wall control. The remotes and keypad will open the door but the hardwired wall control will not. The indicator light on the control blinks 5 quick times, pauses then binks 5 quick times - continually. The lock switch will work as will the motion detecting light switch. The push button to open the door does not work. What are the blinking lights telling me? The part number of wall console is 41C0472-1. I can ground the bell wire and the door will open and close so it is some fault in the wall console. We had a short power failure prior to this happening.

Thanks

RE: Garage Door Opener wall console

I have no idea what the five blinks mean. I have never encountered this problem. However if the opener works fine from all other devices and when you ground the bell wire the opener works fine, then all problems point to the wall button being bad. I would replace the wall button.
