craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener

I have just replaced the door opnere spindle, due to the teeth were srtipped due to frozen door.

After I replaced the spindle gear, the garage door would not operate. It would close, then come back up and the glide bar would lock up at the bolt in the rail. I pressed teh operation button and teh motor tried to start but did not operate and the green light on the back of the opener blinked green. I re-adjusted the chain tightness several times, with no avail. Is there another problem showing up?

It sounds like the up and down limits need to be adjusted. To start, turn them about 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrows printed on the cover. This should get things going and then some tweaking will need to be done. Notice that the arrows point in opposite directions.
