Help programming garage door remote

I have an old Allister garage door opener. It is model ARD IIA. I have two Craftsman remotes and one quit working. Tried changing batteries to no avail. I purchased a new remote using the sears model number off the back 139.52681B but when it came, the manual says to hold the orange "learn button" on the opener to program the remote. This model garage door opener doesn't have a "learn button." But there has to be a way to program this remote as this is the remote type I've been using since we bought the house. Anyone know how to program this thing? Or do I need a different remote?

That is the wrong remote for your opener. If you open the old remote I'm sure you will find dipswitches. You need a remote with the same set up. Problem is I don't think it is made any longer.
