Thomasville sofa

Can anyone tell me about Thomasville sofas? My mom has 2 that are about 5 years old that she is going to give me because she is moving. They are in excellent condition but the fabric is really ugly. Are they worth having recovered, or should I try to slipcover them? I don't even really know how much Thomasville sofas retail for compared to the cost of recovering.

RE: Thomasville sofa

Just my opinion, after looking at furniture for months...

Thomasville is medium quality (on a scale of.... Wal Mart furniture at 0 and Hancock & Moore at 10.) They have some decent looking pieces, but I don't think any deserve being reupholstered (their construction is not top of the line.) I say this knowing that reupholstering can run you nearly as much as a new couch. You might want to contact someone who does reupholstering and get a quote locally, though.

If you like the look of slipcovers, they are probably your best option...
