should i replace broken sliding doors?

Recently we shifted to an apartment for rental in Sherbrooke. Just two weeks later, 8ft * 40ft sliding glass door was broken by itself.. Now the Landlord asking us to replace it with our money. Can any one suggest my next move??

Rosemary what part of the door broke.. The glass.. The frame. What type of door is it.. Wood framed--metal framed. Brand name such as Anderson..

You might also try asking at the link below, providing more details. Glass? frame? wood? metal? Interior? Exterior?

Surely it isn't really 8ft * 40ft .
