Safe treatment of hide leather furniture

We have a Danish three-piece leather corner unit which is
now more than twenty five years old and has been wonderful.

It's a dull tan natural finish, very strong and seemingly quite thick, and I believe it was described as buffalo hide. When we purchased it, from a genuine Danish furniture supplier we were told not to use anything on it other than Ivory soap and water.

However now I see some fine lines of whiteish scuff marks where (dare I say) my husband regularly sits which seem to match up to the thick seams of his jeans although the rest of the sofa is in surprisingly good condition.

Having read on your forum that some leather finishes harm the leather can anyone suggest if there's any safe treatment I can use to protect the scuffed areas.
I would be most grateful for any ideas or suggestions. Thank you.
