Help need to identify this unusual and beautiful chair

Hi there,
I have had this unusual chair in my house for quite some time now and I was wondering if someone could help me identify it. I believe the wood is walnut - could the chair be Italian? Dutch?

Please see pictures below

Kind regards,

L

I would also recommend submitting this on the Home Decorating Forum. That chair is very interesting and I'm sure you will get some responses!

I don't know, but it surely has a more eastern look to it to me. There is an antique dealer near here that specializes in far eastern and Balinese antiques in his store, and he has a lot of furniture that looks like this.
