Quality of Pulaski furniture?

I'm looking for a complete master bedroom set and would like quality wood furniture, but don't have a huge budget or extensive knowledge. I wanted solid wood, but my husband gave me a budget of 4,000 (for california king bed, two nighstands, one dresser with mirror, and a chest) and I doubt if I'll be able to find all that in solid wood for the price.

I know that veneers can be good quality, but I'm not sure how to tell when it is or not. I've been looking at Pulaski bedroom sets that I like in my price range. They all seem to be made of "select hardwoods" or "cheery hardwoods" with "cherry veneers." A few say "select hardwood solids." So I was hoping someone could give me some advice about the quality of Pulaski furniture? Or if there might be other brands of better quality in my price range. Thanks!

Some of the Pulaski sets I have been looking at are the Covington bedroom set, Murano bedroom set, and the Wellington Manor bedroom set.

When buying bedroom furniture, I try the dresser and chest drawers. How well do they open and close and STOP (smoothly). If the wood looks good then I don't care if its solid or otherwise. I think Pulaski is good for the price. If they have what you want, I say go for it.

jesseeyka.......I saw your post on Pulaski furniture. I saw the 'Wellington' bed online and loved it! I haven't seen it in person, and wondered if you purchased it. I would love to see pictures if you have any! Have you been pleased with the quality? Thanks for any help you may have!!

jesseeyka, why are you interested in California King? That could save you a few bucks. Do you have an existing CK mattress from a waterbed? Is your husband just TALL? I mean like 6'5" or more? For most folks the CK mattresses provide a smaller sleeping surface than the regular Eastern King. 72x84 for CK, 76x80 for EK.

I am a sucker for roller bearing drawers. Ashley Quenby set is a new one. Martini Suite is older but more contemporary design......Not sure....think Leighton has it to.
