Tight back sofa or not?

Unsure if I should go with a tight back sofa. I don't like a frumpy look with a sofa. What are some pros or cons you have experienced with tight back sofas?

Love our tight back sofas. They always look presentable.

I had them on love seats but they were hardly used. My sofas have had them but in separate sections. I was referring to a single tight back entire length, is that what you have had sas and beverly?

I have tight back, with piping that visually divides into three seconds. It is well used, sit on it all the time, kids read, do homework. Looks great and is comfortable. Have had for at least 10 years- love it.
On the other hand, in my den our sofa is semi-attached back - 3 years old. I am always fixing the cushions and the plan is to move it to the basement rec room and replace it.

Clean lines with a tight back and never having to plump or fix the pillows. It's the only kind I prefer to buy.

Thanks for your input, just realized all mine have been tight backs! Liked them for same reasons you have given.
