Oops! I bought a second rattan etagere for our kitchen because it is so similar in style to one we already have. I didn't realize that the second one is a darker, duller finish. I like the lighter finish much better.

Does anyone know of a way to lighten the finish on the second piece? It's not an exceptionally high gloss; in fact, it's a rather dull finish. This isn't a piece of furniture that will be touched a lot, However, I don't want to coat it with something that will just peel off. I like the finish on the other; otherwise, I would try to paint them both. Anyway, I think my husband would have a fit; he tends to think natural materials should remain natural unless they are in really bad shape. I think it would look odd if I painted one and not the other.
