Manufacturers Chair Dimensions

I am not tall or overweight. I like simple armless office chairs. Several months
ago I injured my knee. Standing or walking is really not a problem, however I
need support under my knee when I'm sitting.

Overstock.com has an unusual armless chair, that might offer the support I need.
They list the seat depth at 20 inches, which not common for an armless chair.

It has the usual heavy steel brace supporting the backrest. Here's my question.
Is the manufacturer giving you the true seat depth? If the seat was measured
by itself without the rest of the chair, would the depth still be 20 inches?

It crossed my mind that the manufacturer may be measuring from the steel
brace to the front edge of the chair. If true, the actual seat depth would not
be 20 inches. Do you know if the listed dimensions with this type of chair are
accurate?
