Bedroom Furniture Set Recommendations Needed

Posted by jeffreyropp (My Page) on

I've never purchased a full bedroom set so I'm a little lost in trying to find a combination of quality construction and fair price. To date, I'm dismissed the options at the typical retail outlets (poor quality and high prices) as well as local department stores (e.g.,Macy's) for the same reason. I also haven't been able to find anything at alternatives like Costco where direct relationships with manufacturers are offered.

So, can anyone recommend a furniture maker/retailer where I can find quality options. Style-wise, my wife and I prefer traditional/transitional options. I'm comfortable spending around 2K perhaps 2.5K for a set that would include a bed, 2 nightstand tables and a dresser.

Thanks so much for the advice!
Jeff
PS. I live in Southern California

Hi Jeff. I would recommend Kincaid bedroom furniture http://www.kincaidfurniture.com/viewbycollection.cfm.
We have the Laura Ashley Keswick collection. It is much prettier in person than in the pictures.

Jeffrey, what style do you like?

It is pretty mainstream but partially because of that you can find great deals on Ashley furniture in my part of the country.

Far as furniture companies go theu seem the most organized. You can order parts and they show up quickly, that type of thing.

Also what is your price range?

Btw, i see ALOT of this stuff.
I do find the b461 naomi series to have a hook on rail defect. No other complaints with their bedrooms.

Check out B641 Quenby. My personal favorite

Panel beds are an option. We like the lower footboard in this style. Pottery Barn's Hudson is nice:

Durham makes nice options but I have no idea on pricing. The Lorraine is nice: http://www.durhamfurniture.com/collections.php?category_id=1010

Kincaid seems to make quite a few queen size beds, but fewer kings. The Tuscano is nice, but the finish is too light for us: http://www.kincaidfurniture.com/item_detail_type.cfm?pid=5671

I'll try to post a few more things we like later.
Thanks,
Jeff

Looks like some of the beds listed as "queen" size are actually made in kigs as well (not obvious on the website). The "Chantilly Low Profile Bed - King" is very nice (wish it was a bit darker): http://www.kincaidfurniture.com/item_detail.cfm?pid=3015#

I think they make all of their sets in king size. We have this one and like it a lot. We also have a Durham set, we got a great price on it because it was discontinued.

Jeff - Kincaid furniture is made of solid wood. The drawers are dovetailed. It is very well made furniture. You should go to a furniture store that has this brand and look at some of the pieces. The set we purchased is a king set and is actually darker than in the photos. Our set came with a good warranty also.

We bought our bedroom set from Brown St. They are in NHamp.
Don't know whether they have dealers in CA, but we like their furniture and it has held up very well across 7-8yrs. w/ children in the house.
