| I'm not sure the best forum to post this question, but I'll start here. In my oldest ds's room he has two pieces of bedroom furniture that are maple w/ a high gloss finish. I would like to paint both a dark navy. Here's my question...where do I begin? I've never taken on a project like this. I'm assuming I need to strip away the gloss finish, but I'm not sure what product I need to do that? And what application method would be best for painting the furniture? I would appreciate any tips one can offer and thank you in advance. :-)

| If you must paint then.............. :) No need to strip. Clean. Sand lightly. Get off all dust, etc. Prime with a good primer. Since you're going dark, I would suggest getting the primer tinted. Paint. At least 2 coats. First one brush. Second coat, use a sponge roller on flat surfaces. Finish up with a satin poly finish (unless you want a gloss). Not hard (cuz it that was the case I wouldn't know how to do it;) ). Have fun! |
