I'm reupholstering a child's chair and the am trying to nail the "hammered brass nails" in for a finishing touch. My problem is that these little devils go in straight most of the way, but then bend and go crooked when I'm almost done nailing them in. It's so frustrating! Half the nails are bent and not useable. What am I doing wrong?

I've never done any hammering of upholstery nails, yet.
I did find this interesting discussion on the subject that may help you.

You need to pre-drill the holes,. or use a slightly longer nail and pre-nail.

They are hard to pound.
