It's a classic Hepplewhite style sideboard.....looks like mahogany with an inlay around the drawers.
If nothing is broken, the leg should not be loose....that's just the style of the piece.
Never EVER "put a nail in it"....whatever it is!...if it's broken, it needs to be repaired properly.
It looks like it's well worth the $200....unless it has a broken leg.
Either ask for pictures of the leg....or go see it.
Would love to see the back and dovetailing on the drawers. It could be a very very wonderful piece.

Thank you, Linda. I really appreciate your insights. I like it but realize that it doesn't really go with anything in my house.

A "nail in the leg" will only split the wood and make it wobble worse in a year or so.

Looks like it's quite beat up.

The piece could be restored and refinished might be worth another look.
