| What is the narrowest a bench can be and be functional to take off shoes? We have a very narrow mudroom/laundry and would like to incorporate a bench? |

| The one I have is 14" I am a 99 percentile person in height, and that is about as narrow as I'd like to go. If it's for elementary school kids only, you might squeeze down to 12" My size 13 shoes also fit underneath, but just. |
