Glass top for a dining table

I have a cheap Ikea replica of the Saarinen tulip dining table that I think would be enhanced both visually and functionally by the addition of a simple glass cover over the existing MDF table top. The table is round and 42" in diameter. I called a couple local places (Dallas, TX) and was surprised to find that the cheapest quote on a round piece of glass in that size was $125. It's been a couple years since I bought any glass, but I was expecting something more in the vicinity of $50-75. Am I just out of touch on the price of glass or should I be looking elsewhere?

Depends upon the thickness, whether the cuts are curved or straight, edges polished or beveled, and if it includes coming out to pattern and/or delivery. It's not a shocking price to me and I buy glass toppers from time to time.

Thanks for the reply. Since the glass would be only the cover for the table, I presumed that a thickness of 1/8" would be sufficient. It was polished edges though I would consider beveled if those are cheaper. I don't understand the curved vs. straight cut. If the table top is round, doesn't that necessitate a curved cut? The price did not include either coming out to pattern or delivery.
