Ekornes does make non reclining sofas. Look for models without the word "Stressless" in the model name. They are called "Ekornes® Collection sofas".

Well, I don't much like the non-reclining ones. But I like some of the reclining ones. I see the recliner mechanism as nice to have, but not necessary. However if I go this way I may retire my old recliner.

I've had my recliner for probably 20 years, and didn't know what brand it was. But went looking, and indeed it is an Ekornes. It has legs rather than the round base, but otherwise the family resemblance is there. The new ones appear to be better made. And this one is still working for me, which says something.

Does anybody out there have any wisdom and experience about the reliability of the Ekornes sofas.

I have limited experience with leather furniture - only my recliner. It is about due to be reupholstered or retired. The leather on one of the arm rests split. I've been wondering if it made sense to reupholstered it, and if so where I would go to get it done. I *think* the leather on the new Ekornes pieces seems more robust than on my recliner.

How well can I expect the Ekornes leather to hold up?
