kincaid vs. hooker dining room table

I am looking for a dining room table and have always thought that solid wood was the way to go so I was looking at the kincaid sturlyn rectangular pedestal table:

But our designer brought this hooker sheridan table to us.

the hooker table looks beautiful but I'm a bit concerned about the quality, it has mdf and veneers which just does not sound as good to me.

What are your thoughts?

Both tables are imported and neither is made from all solid wood. Their construction is very much alike.

It's difficult today to find and American made solid word dining set. You might look for some smaller "boutique" manufacturers.
