One armed chair

I just noticed an old posting by Helen Me in Nov 06 asking about one armed chairs. I have one too and have been told it's a bustle chair. Back in the days when women wore bustles (1870's/1880's), they could only sit down by pushing the bustles to the side. Thus the absence of the arm on one side - to give them room to move the bustle.
