We are considering an ipe table and chairs versus cast aluminum. Price approx same. We prefer the looks of the ipe but are concerned about maintenance because we are getting conflicting info.

If we get the ipe, we will want to treat it so that the color is maintained. The furniture will sit on a southwest facing deck but will be partially protected from sun under a gable roof.

The salesperson says one application per year with a product called penefin. The are also saying that there will be no issues with watermarks. But, manufacturer says to prevent watermarks requires another yearly application of a second product.

The table we are looking at is sold by Jensen leisure furniture.
