Heavy duty slow hinges for window seat?

Posted by TamsinOrion (My Page) on

We just bought a home, and our toddler's room has a window seat, which is great. And the window seat opens, which is awesome, because we can use it for toy storage.

However, the lid is VERY HEAVY, and slams down with all its weight when released.

There must be some kind of heavy duty, slow moving hinges that would make it safe for the little guy to use?!? Any ideas & suggestions heartily welcome!

The lid will be very heavy if they used mdf instead of plywood. Most soft closing lid hinges will support all but the large thick mdf lids. Assuming also the lid has actual hinges on the back.
