Cushions: Down/fiber versus wrapped foam

Much has been written and I have read. But would appreciate hearing some recent experiences: do you have/do you like/ would you recommend the down/feather wrapped cushions over the straight poly wrapped foam?

Here's what I have gleaned so far -- the down wrapped are softer, plusher, but the down will flatten and break down over 5-10 years. Need to be fluffed and turned about once a week. The foam wrapped in poly will be firmer and will hold shape. Don't need fluffing and turning as often. Can be very firm to start but will soften over time.

I know it is to some degree a matter of personal preference and my preference is softer (but not all the way to 100% down). But I am fearful of making a mistake and coming to regret the decision in a few years. Of course, cushions can be re-filled, which is not that big a deal.

This is for a chair and ottoman. Carolina Chair which is reputed to have very good quality but not George Smith or Kittinger level . . . .

Would love to hear what others think.
