Ripples on Leather Ottoman: Defect?

Posted by smallhousebigideas (My Page) on

Just received a custom ordered Leather Ottoman. The Leather on top appears to have some "ripples" where the leather is a little loose around the ottoman (see center section in the picture).

Are these ripples a defect, or this this typical with leather upholstery?

RE: Ripples on Leather Ottoman: Defect?

Heat this area with a hot hair dryer holding it about 6" away. At the same time run your hand under it just to confirm the dryer isn't too hot but really it's pretty hard to burn leather. Many manufacturers will use heat guns, over 2000 degrees, for this purpose. This should do the trick.

If that doesnt work, you may have some defected leather. Looks like the leather was cut too thin in that spot.

Who made the ottoman?

Did you note the defect on the delivery form you signed?
