How to pass on a Sleeper Sofa Mechanism

We have an old sofa sleeper that we have been unable to give away because the upholstery is in pretty bad shape (we've tried eBay, Craigslist (multiple times), and even a flyer in the local supermarket). A junk haul away service wants over $100 to take it (we don't have local dumps in our area). I began thinking I might just disassemble it...burn the wood, throw away the upholstery, and then be left with the sleeper mechanism which is in nearly mint condition. There must be someone that could use this mechanism or find it of value separate from the couch. Any idea of a good place to advertise this? Here? Another site/forum?

Here is a link that might be useful: Picture of sofa with sleeper mechanism still attached

Put it on your lawn with a $50 price tag on it, and someone will come by and steal it.

Problem solved.
