Depends on the top mattress?

Does the slat system have a center support, meaning a fifth foot that touches the ground? If not, the mattress will start to sag sooner than it should. You can try to remedy this yourself, but why bother?

Also if you've never slept on slats, you may not like the feel.

Thanks EAM44. We decided to go for the box spring and forego the slats. $300 slat savings doesn't compensate for the stability and comfort of a nice mattress on box spring.
