Pier 1 Papasan Chairs - Restaining?

Not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this. I need an "islandy" style chair to set in a corner in our master bedroom. Problem is, I really really want to put a papasan chair there but where I live they are only available in brown. I need white. Last summer for like 2 months they were available in white and I didn't buy it then because our house wasn't built yet. Anyone have any clue how to maybe refinish/recover it for someone who is not very handy at doing that sort of thing?

The lacquer finish on the papasan will be difficult to paint over. You' have to sand, prime, then repaint.

Also, papasan chairs are really quite huge once you get them out of the store into a normal size room. Be really sure it will work in the corner.
