At rummage last year I scored my best furniture buy ever, a Sarreid brass trunk style coffee table for about $100. Made in the 70's in Spain of brass with brass tacks, it's a stunner in my living room and sells for up to $1,000 on 1st Dibbs. I purchased, not scored, an identical one for $225 at an estate sale this week. My plan in my new, larger living room is to place them back to back creating a large square coffee table. My dilemma, the 1st one has a lovely never been polished patina and the 2nd is polished making it look brand spanking new. I prefer the old non-polished look, is there any way to age polished brass without risking disaster? If not, what should I use to polish the 1st one?
