I'm looking at a bed and other pieces from Bernhardt. I know they, like many others, have moved their stuff overseas.

A good friend of mine had a Bernhardt bed 15 - 20 years ago, which was one of their first pieces after moving to China. Shortly after he got it, one of the side rails broke, and while it looked like solid wood from the outside, the inside was like paper machet or something like that. Made almost like a hollow core door.

I know a lot of time has passed since the early days of furniture moving to China, and I wonder if the quality has improved, and Bernhardt make sure their pieces are all solid wood now.

We really like the Pacific Canyon bed from Bernhardt, and quite frankly, we've had trouble finding a US made bed we like as much.
