Step stool

I recently had built-in floor-to-ceiling birch bookcases added in my home. I need a stool to reach the top-shelf. I'm looking for something in a light colored wood (birch, oak, natural pine, etc.), foldable, that gives me another 12-15'' of height. I don't want some plastic or metal industrial type of thing. If anyone has come across anything suitable, I'd appreciate it.

Another option would be to have my carpenter make one, if anyone has seen a plan/diagram anywhere.

You need some antique library steps...or a reproduction of them.
