If so, 2 ideas:

1) Look for two ottomans big enough to put a tray on for whatever those sitting in the recliners want at-hand. When the recliners are closed, push the ottomans together; ottomans have been alternatives for coffee tables for a while now. I'm thinking of a square shape; if you have a fabric sofa, look for a leather (or leather lookalike) ottoman. Bed Bath & Beyond sells a set of 2 square faux leather ottomans with tray tops (reasonably priced):

2) You might look for C-shaped tables, like these. Prices. styles are all over the place. And the design is really simple, so maybe if you know someone who can nail 3 pieces of wood together, he/she can make you something with the exact dimensions you need.

I would look for something that's sold in pairs, so you can each have your own when you're in the recliners, and then when the recliners are closed, you can push them together for a regular coffee table look:
