Ceiling molding

We have just re-painted our living room and parlor a gold color (overjoy) seems to have just a sense of green in it in certain light. We are looking to put in ceiling molding in. The ceiling is a swirl popcorn white and trying to decide on the color. We have thought of going a shade darker than the walls or maybe white or stained wood. Any suggestions rooms are @ 10'x12'each. They are sort of adjoining separated by the staircase.
