Natuzzi is a huge mid-range producer of leather furniture, competing with LaZBoy, Flexsteel and many other companies. The quality is usually very good for the price.

I suspect that the reason you see so many complaints is mostly that Natuzzi has so many customers that if even 1/2 of 1% of its customers are dissatisfied that's still alot of complaints. You see the same phenomenon with LaZBoy and Flexsteel and other large low and mid-end furniture companies.

Another thing to take into consideration is that many forum members who voice negative opinions are comparing Natuzzi (and LaZBoy and Flexsteel) to high end companies like Hancock & Moore. Natuzzi is not made as well as high-end furniture, but it is also far less expensive.

$499 is a good price for a genuine top grain leather (not bonded or bycast) recliner as long as it is comfortable for you. If it is comfortable my vote is for you to keep it.
