Engineered flooring installed. Do hollow spots adhere over time?

With the original wood floor, we had a couple of hollow sounding spots and the installer put some heavy objects over them immediately and they were solid the next day.

With this install, there are 30+ hollow sounding areas, and the installer said they would most likely be solid by morning.

That doesn't sound right. If they sound hollow, doesn't that mean they aren't touching glue? We put heavy stuff on all the places we could find, but we ran out of books and boxes of stuff.

Update: some of the smaller hollow places are now solid, but the bigger ones are still hollow sounding.

If they don't stick right away, they probably won't stick after the glue cures. The standard remedy for this issue is to drill small holes and inject epoxy under the hollow spots.

We had the same problem after having engineered flooring installed. Our installers came back out, pulled the boards up and replaced with new boards and more glue.

I would call the company you bought it from and get the installers back out before the warranty runs out.

Most of the spots stuck after we put a maze of heavy objects on the floor. Just one or two places that bug me now. The floor installer owner is going to come by for his payment and I'm going to ask him to replace a few boards then. One board had a split in it, and the installers cut out the part that was sticking up and filled with wood filler, about 3"x1". It looks bad and is right in front of the fireplace where it is really noticeable.
